How do we get out of the perfect position? Here are what some tour players have told us:
Does it matter if I change the distance the ball sits from my body at address? ...YES! | | "When we have the opportunity to work with the finest players and teachers in the game, they have a consistent message: "Ball position is the most critical element to consistent ball striking." They are discussing the distance the ball is from the player. If the ball position varies, so does the shot shape, trajectory, swing plane, and contact consistency. How do we get out of the perfect position? Here are what some tour players have told us: - "Sometimes I get tired during my practice, and my posture changes. The ball gets further from me."
- "I fight my hands getting too low at address. When they get low, the ball moves away from me."
- "I have a tendency to lose the flex in my legs at address. I get too upright. When this happens, the ball comes closer to me."
We need a feedback device because this is a very hard change to see or feel. A tour player told me "...anyone can see if the ball position between my feet changes, but seeing the ball move away from me an inch or two is almost impossible to see. I have the Practice T marked for every club so I always have a benchmark." Click for Details... | | | Follow these steps: 1. Have your teacher confirm you are in an ideal setup posture with your driver, 5 iron, and PW 2. Use some tool - the Practice T is perfect, but a yardstick and a club shaft will work, too - to mark the exact distance from your toes to the ball 3. Begin every practice session in this setup position. Check it periodically during your practice session. | | I know that if you add this important element of practice into your routine, you will see an immediate improvement in your ball striking ability!
