This drill does two things well. It teaches you to make a firm stroke that seldom comes up short and it makes your eyes focus on a smaller target. By Dennis Murray, teacher at The Ridge at Castle Pines
Submitted by: Dennis Murray Profession: Golf Teacher at The Ridge at Castle Pines City: Castle Rock, CO Goal: Learn to hit shorter putts firmly Activity: Insert a tee in the back of the hole, just above the plastic cup, and below the surface of the green. Slant it toward the center of the cup. Hit putts from 3-6 feet. There are two goals: - Learn to focus on an exact target instead of the entire hole. The tee is the target.
- Learn to hit putts firmly. Stroke putts firmly enough for the ball to hit the tee and bank into the cup.
Commentary: This drill does two things well. It teaches you to make a firm stroke that seldom comes up short and it makes your eyes focus on a smaller target. This smaller target will lead you to greater accuracy.
