Hitting fairways is a combination of having a correct target, and hitting the correct shot.

Driver accuracy = 33%

During this drill we will train to select the correct club to hit the fairway and set us up for our next shot.

We begin this process on the driving range. Select a “fairway”. It should be a target about 30 yards wide at the point you hit your driver.

2 iron accuracy = 66%

Hit 10 balls and record how many of the balls were in the “fairway”.

Next, hit 10 balls with your 3 wood, then 5 wood, and long iron.

When you complete this process, you will see the accuracy difference you can expect from each club.

Knowing you hit 1/3 of the fairways with your driver, and 2/3 of the fairways with your 5 wood will help you decide which club to select on a short par 4.

More Fairways … more fun!
